Vacations, and just busy seasons in general, are one of the biggest things that cause people to throw in the towel on their health and wellness goals, but it doesn’t have to be this way!
A truly healthy lifestyle should be sustainable and flexible so it’s important to set these expectations first and foremost. There’s not one single person, not even that fitness guru you’re following on IG, that’s eating perfectly everyday and never missing a workout.
The secret sauce is knowing how to navigate travel and busy seasons so you’re able to stay on track with ease, and without feeling guilty or stressed that you may be sabotaging your progress.
So how do you navigate real life and stay on track when you’re out of your normal
routine?
Are you ready? This is going to sound super simple, but it WORKS!
Create a BASELINE for yourself! Your baseline should be 2-3 non-negotiables that you know can follow through with almost every single day, no matter what you have going on.
For example, my 3 non-negotiables are:
When I’m on vacation, it’s a holiday, or even when it’s just an unusually busy week for me, I know without a doubt that I can stick to my baseline when everything else seems out of my control and this helps to keep me on track so I’m always making forward progress!
So why is having a baseline so important when it comes to staying on track toward your goals?
Most people think they have to keep their foot on the gas pedal and operate at 100% every day in order to see results and this simply is not true! In fact, this all or nothing mindset is the very reason most people give up when life throws them a curveball.
Reminder: you don’t have to be doing all the things to create forward motion!
You will constantly struggle to stay on track when you don’t allow yourself room for flexibility…so it’s super important to have a strong foundation that’s consistently helping you move the needle.
Your baseline should be simple enough to do everyday. This will give you realistic and attainable goals, and will keep you focused AND flexible when life gets crazy!
If you’ve been feeling like you’re always getting on and off of a wagon because of life’s obstacles, I want you to know that there really is no wagon when you have a baseline.
Think of your baseline as your guide that keeps you going, even when the going gets tough. This will keep you from feeling overwhelmed and ensure that you’re always making your health a priority.
In this five module course I teach you how to build healthy (macro balanced) meals when you’re ordering off restaurant menus or trying to navigate holidays and big events.
Here’s to creating a healthy lifestyle that allows you to enjoy real life without sabotaging your progress.
